Walter B. Shelnut, 79, retired farmer of the Paris Mountain Road, died Thursday at 7:10 am, at a local hospital after three months of illness.
He had lived at his present home for 11 years and had been in greenvile for 43 years. Prior to that time, he was a resident of Commerce, GA, but was born and reared in White Co GA. His Parents were the late Thomas and Lou Massey Shelnut.
His wife, the late Mrs. Hulda Kinsey Shelnut, died in 1935.
Surviving are 9 daughters, Mrs. O.M. Rochester, Mrs. A.J. Haney, Mrs. George Crumley and Mrs. Ira Page of Greenville, Mrs. Homer Batson, Mrs. Ansel Batson and Mrs. E.E. Styles Jr.of Travelers Rest, Mrs. Harvey Thompson of Winston Salem, NC and Mrs. Dan Maresco of Miami, Fla. Two sons Vernon and Tommy Shelnut of Greenville: 53 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. Another son, Floyd Shelnut died Dec 4 in Orangeburg, SC
Funeral Service will be conducted Saturday at 11am at Thomas McAfee Funeral
Home by the Rev. Charles V. Elliott. Burial will be in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Billy Joe Batson, Lee Brown, Jack Brown, Alton Rochester, Roland Styles and Robert Crumley.
Honorary escort will be Oscar Smith, Pete Morgan, Muse Morgan, Jink Morgan,
W.F. Duncan, J.T. Rainey, A.J. Vaughn, Troy Styles, Dr. L.I. McCarrell, Dr. T.E. Coleman, Harry Crumley and M.M. Crumley.
After 10am Friday, the body will be at the home of Mrs. Crumley, 6 Hudson St, Sans Souci.

Mrs Hulda Kinsey Shellnut, 54, wife of W.B. Shellnut, died at the family residence on the Sandy Flat Rd. yesterday morning at 11 o'clock. she was stricken suddenly.
Mrs. Shellnut was born and reared in White Co, Georgia and came to this county about 20 years ago. She and her family lived in the Sandy Flat section for 13 years.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are nine daughters, Mrs. C.M. Rochester - Mrs. Olice (correct)Haynie - and Mrs. E. Styles, of Greenville; Mrs. Homer Batson and Mrs. Ansel Batson, of Greenville Co.; Mrs. G.R. Crumley, Fletcher, NC; Mrs Harvey Thompson, North Carolina; Misses Hazel and Nellie Ruth Shellnut, Greenville County, and six sons; Verner Shellnut, Georgia; Herman Shellnut, Greenville Co; F.P., W.W., Grady, and Tommy Shellnut, all of Greenville, and 28 grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. D.P. Wood, Atlanta, GA; Mrs R. D. McCollum, Cleveland, GA also survive.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed but will be announced later by Thomas McAfee funeral directors.

The body was at the residence pending the hour of service. Funeral at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Rev Earl P Paulk. interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
