General Notes (Wife)
Elsie I. Shelnutt (Harris, Bohannon, Thacker) is my grandma, who died in a suburb of Chicago in a nursing home, but she is buried at Union Hill Cemetery as well.
I believe she died in 1990 (I can't find her funeral stuff but I know it was either 1990 or 1991). Elsie was married three times and had 4 children (Novie Harris, Bessie L. Harris, Denward Bohannon, Dennis Bohannon. My mom, Bessie L. Harris was Elsie's 2nd child with Carl Harris. (*Pam R. Splitt)
I married David Matthew Splitt and I have 2 children (so far), Jordan Elizabeth Splitt born December 1999 and Matthew Phillip Splitt born February 2001.

Novie was raised by her g-parents, David and Lossie Shelnutt.
Novie is a wiidow and now lives in Des Plaines, Illinois.
Novie married twice. Don't know 1st husband's name, Thurman, but I don't know if that's a last name or a first name. Had no children by him. Married Raymond Slupik and had 3 children. Donna, Janice and Raymond. Novie is a widow. Husband died in the 70's aboard his burning fishing vessel on the Great Lakes. Donna and Janice live in Las Vegas and Raymond in Wisconsin. General Notes for Child Bessie Lee HARRIS-[4294]
My mother's name was Bessie Lee Harris, she was born on Mar 9, 1932, she married twice, the first marriage was to Odell Carpenter at the age of 16 in 1948. They had two children, Jerry Carpenter (died 3 months old and is burried in Spruce Pine, AL) and then Peggy Joyce Carpenter. Peggy's birthdate is Febuary 1953. Mom's second marriage was to John Buford Raines, they had two children. Gregory John Raines born Dec. 1965 and me Pamela Kay Raines b. Aug. 1968.
Momma was beautiful when she was young. Unfortunately, she suffered with an affliction of 'diabetes', and the stress of life took a toll on her body. She helped
raise her neices and nephews, the Bohannon children.
After me, she gave up on ever finding a good man and she just worked all the rest of her life (sometimes 3 jobs) up until the year before she died. Us kids are all very proud of her even though she was hard on us. I don't think she knew how much we loved and respected her until she was on her death bed, maybe a reason why God left her all hooked up to machines for six weeks before he finally took her.
She, Uncle Audie, Dora, Elsie, and David and Lossie are buried at Union Hill Cemetery, Franklin County, Alabama. B.C. (baby) is the only one buried at Oak Grove Cemetery.
