AKA: Joseph SHELLNUT Born: Sep 1819 - Franklin Co, GA Christened: Died: 1900-1910 - White Co, GA Buried: - Old Blue Creek Baptist CC, White Co, GAMarriage: Mar 5, 1848 - Franklin Co, GA [MRIN:347]

• Military Service, Georgia Reserves, Civil War, 1861-1864 - Company H, Young's Bttn.
Sarah A. Shelnut filed on this claim.
• BIRTH, Sep 1819 - Franklin County, Georgia
Joseph was born in Franklin Co, Georgia, 1819, when there was only one 'Shelnut family' in Georgia. This was Andrew Joseph born 1772 in SC, son of John George born 1727 in Germany. (Andrew Joseph had a son Joseph, Junior born 1817).
Andrew Shellnutt 1920 census (Captain Attaway's District) Franklin Co, Georgia.
He and his son William Buck Shellnutt, born 1800, who bought property in 1819, Franklin Co, were the only Shelnut, Shellnutt families known to be in Georgia, when Joseph S. was born 1819.
The other Shelnut's arrived in Habersham County Georgia in 1822 from Surry Co, NC
Joseph Shelnut born 1819 is recorded in Georgia Archives, Drawer 276, Box 77 and has not been checked for parents ???
(Note by researcher, Bill Patterson - After years of research on Shelnut families, I can state that all facts lead to Andrew Joseph Shelnut, born 1772 being the g-father of Joseph born 1819 and very possibly his father is William Buck Shelnut who settled in Alabama. A story circulates among family that John Shelnutt, son of
William Buck, was half Indian, but Nancy is his mother and she is "White".
