Family history tells of Alexander being youngest son of Ansel Steinheimer and Clara Lightener, who immigrated from Eichenhausen, Germany. Several sons lived in Atlanta area.


General Notes (Wife)

Anna was living with Bessie when she died. Anna's father, Doctor Joseph Hamilton Garland, who was on Muster Roll Company "H", 5th or 3rd Reg, Vol Infantry Army of Northern Virginia Pike County, GA Confederate Vol. He died in a private home near Richmond, Va, of Typhoid Fever, August 4, 1862, thought to have been contracted by treating soldiers. Anna's mother, Mary Louisa Speights born April 9, 1840, to Evander M. and Eliza Graham Speights, married Dr Garland, Nov 6, 1857. She married Milton Riggins after the War and and died Oct 28, 1900. Bessie's g-father was Dr. Joseph Hamilton Garland, served in CSA, and died Aug 4, 1862 with typhoid fever, believed contracted from patients.
