General Notes (Wife)
My mother's name was Bessie Lee Harris, she was born on Mar 9, 1932, she married twice, the first marriage was to Odell Carpenter at the age of 16 in 1948. They had two children, Jerry Carpenter (died 3 months old and is burried in Spruce Pine, AL) and then Peggy Joyce Carpenter. Peggy's birthdate is Febuary 1953. Mom's second marriage was to John Buford Raines, they had two children. Gregory John Raines born Dec. 1965 and me Pamela Kay Raines b. Aug. 1968.
Momma was beautiful when she was young. Unfortunately, she suffered with an affliction of 'diabetes', and the stress of life took a toll on her body. She helped
raise her neices and nephews, the Bohannon children.
After me, she gave up on ever finding a good man and she just worked all the rest of her life (sometimes 3 jobs) up until the year before she died. Us kids are all very proud of her even though she was hard on us. I don't think she knew how much we loved and respected her until she was on her death bed, maybe a reason why God left her all hooked up to machines for six weeks before he finally took her.
She, Uncle Audie, Dora, Elsie, and David and Lossie are buried at Union Hill Cemetery, Franklin County, Alabama. B.C. (baby) is the only one buried at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Peggy's husband is one of eleven children from Rolling Meadows, IL. Thomas Phillip Mager, his b'day is Dec. 1951 he was born in a hospital in Chicago, but they can't remember the name of the hospital..St. something. Peggy's oldest is Daniel Phillip Mager born Dec 1977 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. And her daughter Jessica Elaine Mager was born on June 1981 at the same hospital. Dan's wife is April (Thomas) Mager. They have two girls and one on the way they hope is a boy. His girls are named Anna Dawn Mager and Grace (?) Mager. (*Pam R. Splitt)
