Annie Mae died at 1:05 AM, Friday, at the City Hospital, Columbus, Ga. where she had been taken for treatment. Her address was listed as 3102 Rose Ave, Columbus. She was the daughter of George W. and Ronia Bowen. Survivors include her husband, Albert A. Shellnut of Atlanta; three daughters, Dorothy Ann, Elizabeth, and Ronia all of Atlanta; two brothers, Hughie Bowen of Pine Mountain Valley and Jack Bowen of Atlanta, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services held at 3 PM, Monday, Sept 23, 1946 at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta, Ga. Reverend C. C. Buckerlou will officiate. General Notes (Husband)
Shorty's feet froze and they amputated one leg before death . The family nickname was "Baldy". Shorty served in US Navy during WW II and his wife died shortly after the war. Shorty never married again. Shorty was listed 1930 census (only child home) 19 years of age, (1911) single, living in the Cornell section (Jonesboro Rd) Fulton County.
(Brother Lonnie born 1909, died 1928, age 19).
This Genealogy started as small amount of history to commemorate "Shorty". He and daughters were the only ones to start with. Each person added, made me want to research more. Only knew Shorty for a year (1969-1970). He spent some time with his g-daughter "Donna Lynn Patterson, and assisted with a 'Roof Cleaning' business, etc. He was a friend to be proud of.
