Homer Verner Shelnut, 64, of 205 McCrary St. Sans Souci, died at a local hospital yesterday at 7:20am, following a sudden attack. He had been in declining health for several years.
A native of White Co, GA, he had spent most of his life in Greenville, having made his home in the Sans Souci community for the past several years. His parents were the late W.B. and Hulda Kinsey Shelnut, natives of Georgia.
Mr. Shelnut was a retired textile employee. He was a member of Sans Souci Baptist Church and of the Phillips Bible Class of the Sunday School.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Mary Vera Taylor Shelnut, nine sisters,
Mrs. O.M. Rochester, Mrs. A.J. Haney, and Mrs. J.J. Page of Greenville; Mrs. George Crumley of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Harvey Thompson of Winston Salem, NC, Mrs Dan Maresco of Miami, Fla, and Mrs. Homer Batson, Mrs. Ansel Batson, and Mrs E. E. Styles of Travelers Rest; a brother Tommy Shelnut of Greenville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service wil be conducted at Sans Souci Baptist Church Tuesday by Rev. A. Boyd Turner and Rev. J.A. Cave at an hour to be announced.
Burial will be in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
At 2:30pm today the body will be carried to the home, and will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
Thomas McAfee Funeral Home is in charge of funeral plans.
