Walter and son, John Dorsey co-owned and operated a saw-mill in Peace, AL. --- Oak Grove Church of Christ Cemetery located ten miles east of Wedowee at junction 56 & 63 county roads.

Note 1-Since coming to New England in 1943, I have located the family of the missing George Shelnutt. He did live in Nova Scotia for many years. However he did marry and had a family of several children. I have met members of the family and they may now be in North Andover, Mass. Having seen the orignal discharge papers of George Shelnutt, it is now my belief that he settled first in the Carolina's since discharge had the Seal Of State of South Carolina and not Virginia. C. Clarence Shelnutt, Randolph Native, in New Position:.
A former New Hamphire Recreation Director and YMCA Official has been appointed program director of Boston's University, new George Sherman University Union, according to an announcement by Staton R. Curtis, director of the Union and Dean of men at the University. Clarence B. Shelnutt of Amhert, Mass., currently serving as program coordinator of the Student Union at the University of Massachusetts, assumed his duties on Monday Jan 7, a few months before the opening of the new $4.400.000 Sherman University Union, largest building of it's kind in New England.
Dean Curtis said that Mr. Shelnutt will be responsible for coordination of a University-wide program of cultural, social, recreational and out-of-class activities in conjunction with the new Union. "By beginning in January, he will be able to develop an effective program by the time the Union facilities are opened," the Dean explained. Mr Shelnutt has held his present post at the University of Massachusetts since 1950.
He has also served as the director of University's summer school activities program.
From 1949-1960, he was director of recreation for Lebanon, N.H., also serving as Chairman of the Lebanon School Board, president of the New Hampshire Recreation Society, chairman of the Governor's con-ference on Recreation in that State, sponsor and trustee of Lebanon College, and director of the Lebanon Improvement Society.
For three years, from 1946-1949, Mr Shelnutt served as secretary of the YMCA in Concord, N. H., and was also physical director and program director there. Prior to that time, he spent three years as a teacher and coach at the Perkins Institution for the Blind, in Boston.
The Amherst man holds an Outstanding Achievement Award from the National Recreation Association, in recognition of outstanding service he rendered on the New England Council of that organization.
Recently, University of Massachusetts students granted him the top honor, students of that school can confer upon a faculty member, by voting him to membership in Delphia, an honorary society for persons who have made outstanding contributions to the well-being of the college community.
Mr. Shelnutt attended high school at Woodland, Ala., and also studied at Southern Union (Junior) College in Wadley, Ala. He received a B.S. degree in recreation leadership from the University of Massachusetts and did graduate study in that University's School of Business, specializing in the field of business management.
A member of the New England Camping Association, International Basketball Officials Association, National Rifle Association, YMCA, and the Red Cross
Mr Shelnutt is married and has three children. He says he would like to hear from former classmates and friends here in Randolph County.
