Cyrus T. Shelnutt. CSA Mar 4, 1862, Company "A", Army of Tennessee, 42nd Reg, Georgia Vol Inf, "Gwinnett Beauregards". Made Corporal 2nd Class, most likely from National Guard Service, with his family.
Cyres was captured at Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1863. Paroled there July 10, 1863 and died there July 20, 1863. There were so many bodies, CSA and Union Armies, they were all buried in a mass grave.

Most info, descendants/Cyrus, presented by Nancy Shelnutt Jones, Dau/of Buster Brown Shelnutt, and Robert G. Shelnutt, s/o Herschel.
Cyrus was wounded in the 'Battle of Vicksburg'. He died while being moved and was buried in a mass grave of Union / & CSA / soldiers, in / Clarksville, / Enterprise, Clarke Co, MS. --- Cyrus spelled "Syrus" 1860c Suwanee (PO), Gwinnett Co, GA.
NOTE----- A REUNION is held on Saturday, each year near Valentine Day.
In 2002 is was on Feb. 16th.

General Notes for Child Henry Martin SHELNUTT-[1923]
Henry was age 11 when his father went into Civil War. Being first son, he was head of family with mother, two brothers, and a sister to care for. He did well. Had 19 children. Henry Martin was farmer, beekeeper, furniture maker and made wine. He and Elizabeth
Ann Crumpton settled in Morgan Co. then moved to Oconee Co in the late 1870's . Some of the furniture made by Henry Martin is used and on display in homes of the family. He made the furniture from walnut trees, on his farm. - A three piece walnut bed-room suite is still in home of Nancy Shelnutt Jones. Contact Union Christian Church, Oconee County for info: Reunion of Shelnutt's each year on Saturday before Valentine's Day.
By census regulations, Henry born November 1849 (Every birth after June 1, is 1850.
